Pretty Prague In Summer
After having arrived in Prague the previous night, and still suffering a little from the after effects of a bit too much celebrating, our small band of merry travellers (Shea, Devon, Kate and myself) set off to explore what Prague had to offer. Luckily I had secured us an apartment very close to the centre of the St Mesto area, which placed us within walking distance of a great many of the sights we wanted to see. Ok, so the apartment was situated above a busy cafe/bar that played loud music all the time, but once we had decided that it was better to join them than fight them, Cafe Sol's handy location downstairs simply afforded us greater access to yet more alcohol and the chance to mix with locals, so it was all good in the end.
And so it was with slightly heavy heads that we headed off towards Prague Castle via the Old Town Hall (including the Astrological Clock), the Charles Bridge and more cobbled streets than you could shake a stick at.
Fighting our was through the multitude of crowds (my only real gripe about Prague in general were the throngs of tourists... it was like walking down Oxford Street in London everywhere we went!) we climbed the steps to the Prague Castle area (not so much one single building as a collection of them).Happily the views from the top and the immaculate state of the buildings made the effort all worthwhile and after some very enjoyable wandering we slowly descended again in time for a quick coffee break before lunch near the Vltava River. With another friend arriving later that day I took off soon after that to spend some time taking photos and gathering afternoon snacks for the crew before we all went out for dinner (which was consisted of some stunning potato and sour cream pancakes for me, washed down with yet more cocktails). With wedding preparations to consider, Shea and I passed up the opportunity to hit the town after that, instead retiring to bed slightly toasted and ready for some more exploration the next day!
