Ye Olde London Town

And so it begins. Trace and I arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed at Melbourne Airport at 7:30am. Little did we know that we would be spending a bit of time at the airport. 6 HOURS to be exact. Thanks to the lovely Melbourne weather, our plane was delayed 5hrs due to fog. Being the resourceful young lasses that we are, we passed the time by watching movies on the laptops whilst curled up on the floor.
After finally getting on the Vietnam airlines plane we were very happy to find that the plane did actually have wings and there was no duct-tape holding the windows in. We were however packed in like cattle into the very back of the plane. Not the most pleasant 9 hours of my life. Arriving in Ho Chi Minh City we weren't able to leave the airport due to the delay which was a bugger.
13 hours later: Paris. Managed to get lost in the airport but due to the work of our lovely travel agent, we had 5hrs to find our way out. Nice airport by the way, not that we could afford anything there. They had a Moet and Chandon SHOP. Yikes.
After waiting 5hrs we then got on the 40min plane ride to london. Trace got interrogated at heathrow. They didn't seem to care that i was entering their country. Finally we got to the hostel and the grand total of hours travelled....42!!! Thanks flight centre! Possibly the longest trip to london ever. May have even been faster to swim.
London: surprisingly nice weather. Mangaged to find a free walking tour of the entire city. The guy taking it was pretty funny although I have decided that eurpeans don't have a sense of humour. It was only the crazy australians laughing at his jokes. We tried our best to look like tourists and looked at our maps a lot + the lonely planet. Stopped at hanging the cameras round our necks. That's just a bit far.
Well thats about all really. We're off to sleep at stansted airport tonight ready for our 6am flight to brussels. Should be fun. We've stolen blankets from the plane so we're all prepared.
PS: Things we've learnt:
- London drivers are crazy. The horn is the best form of communication
- The cute red phone boxes are not used as public phones but as urinals
- Airport floors are not as comfortable as they look.
