Cost of Living - Week 5

I've constructed a brief "Cost of Living" guide for myself and those future study abroaders who happen to fall in love with Buenos Aires:

For the past two weeks I've been consulting a good number of diverse sources, both foreign and Argentine, inquiring about the cost of living in Buenos Aires.  More specifically, I've been running the numbers on how much it'll cost me to travel back to Buenos Aires and reside there until the beginning of the Fall semester, August 21st, instead of returning to Atlanta on July 8th.  Besides the plane ticket fees, an educated estimate for one month of stay in Buenos Aires comes to $750 USD.  $450 for a one room apartment [for one month..discounts are given for a longer contract], $250 for food [assuming you spend around $25 pesos a day], and $50 for other other minor expenses [subway, bus, laundry].  Of course..there can be much variance.  For instance, if one chooses to stay in a 6-person hostel or cooks their own food instead it'll be much more cost effective.  Drawing from 4 different sources, I've compiled these website addresses to help in an apartment search:

Depending on where you want to live costs can vary.  Plaza Italia is an expensive area and rent is naturally higher there.  Get the card of the residencia you will stay at and contact them if you're absolutely set on returning to the exact same spot.  However, this year's residencia appears to be among the more expensive places you can stay.  One note that cannot be overlooked is.. UTILIZE YOUR ARGENTINE FRIENDS!  They were absolutely instrumental in helping me find places to stay and determining which areas would be best suited for my desired lifestyle.  All in all $750 USD is very cheap for a 1-month stay in a foreign country..especially considering the quality of life you'll enjoy in Buenos Aires.
