Our first major stop was at the top of Como travel guide">Lake Como, camping for 3 nights.

The first day and a half we chilled out next to the pool and explored the nearby villages and their restaurants. On our last day in Como we went further afield and caught the ferry to Bellagio, a pretty town at the top point of the southern shore. From here we drove down to Como and then back up the Western shore where we stopped at Menaggio for dinner and also bought some badminton rackets. The lake is really calm and tranquil, but there arent really any places to swim. Nicholas wanted to have a go on the sea planes in Como, but they were booked up until Friday and were twice the price of a plane at Biggin anway!

Back at the campsite we tried to brave the mosquitos to have a game of badminton, but after only one Nicholas has been bitten in over 25 places on his back only. The anti bug stuff may work on skin, but you cant stop them biting through clothes. We retreated to the tent to hide!

Did you feel that camping was too hot or too many insects to have fun? would you have rather stayed in a hotel? I',m trying to weigh the benefits of a hotel here in august over camping against the high cost.
