Day 18: Florence

OK. So when I set up this blog I was thinking that it would be easier than it has been. For one, I thought that I would have more time to sit and reflect and formulate thoughts and load pictures.... but I was wrong!!!! So, it is nearly the end of our trip and I have no stories shared yet but... I will when I get back. Do not fret, my mom and I decided to do this blog after we get home and have some time to put everything together. Just so you know though... I have a full 1G memory card FULL of pictures to share so those of you that have been wanting pictures.... they WILL be coming! (my mom adds that she has a 512K memory card to share as well).

Been enjoying our stay in Florence so far... though it has been very busy and stressfull (more later). We are off to find out last gelato (sad day) before our 6 am flight tomorrow morning.

check back next week when I will have an updated blog! :)

Best wishes,

love and sunshine,

Catherine and Jeanine

This little pension was a great find. After being in tears at losing our reservation somewhere else do to a declined credit card (grrr) we looked all over, stayed in a few holes (seriosly, as in the health department must have them on their list) we found this gem. The staff is phenomenal and the owner Patricia is a real sweetheart.

The staff doesn't speak much english but we got by on speaking Spanish and gesturing. You can have breakfast included for something like 8 euros more but if that doesn't sound good to you, you can request to not have it.

The rooms are small, but clean. The room we were in had a double bed and super high ceilings. The bathroom was private but super small, with a standing shower that got the whole room wet (no shower curtain or tub... just a hole in the bathroom floor).

Anyway, for what Florence has to offer, this place has my vote as a great place to stay. If you have a preference, choose a room on the floor up or away from the front desk as it can get really noisy at different times of day (or night!).
