Wrightsville Beach
Our good friends Mike and Sharon from Motown made a last minute trip to visit me in NC. We decided to book last minute rooms in Wilmington and spend the weekend at the beach. Wrightsville beach was nice, the sand was better than Kill Devil Hills. The weather was so hot that most of the time was in the water. The break was ok, but the current out of the south (gulf stream?) was strong and made it difficult to stay in the surfing zones (due to drift).
Historic Wilmington is actually pretty cool. Try eating at The George on the riverwalk on the Cape Fear River (or Elijah or the Pilot House). Also try Circa 1922 for Tapa's. The Water Street is a bar in an old peanut warehouse. Didn't get a chance to hit the Reef or the Liquid room, but heard the live music and club on the upper levels is good.
