Bangkok Jan 2007
My first visit to Bangkok, stayed at the Grand Hyatt. This place is very nice and is the host to the Erawan shrine for it's spirit house. This shrine is amazing, covered in gold. Donations can be made to the orchestra or the dancers, with the reward being a very nice performance. Legend has it that this shrine has the highest income of any non-profit in Thailand.
I also visited the night market to buy gifts for family and friends. Easy to get lost in this place because it is huge. You can find pretty good quality crafts and some interesting stuff in here. It's a tourist trap for sure, but at least the stuff isn't 100% plastic useless stuff.
I went to dinner with Duane and Halim for seafood. Can't recall the name of the place, but it wasn't anything special. Many foreigners in this place. I think I prefer a more simple place with typical food.
