So it was a pretty easy drive down to Ankeny
, where we were going to spend the night with Brad Whipple, a guy we know through our Lakota Journey Mission. He's one of the coolest guys you'll meet. As we drove down the road in his neighborhood (which is new) we passed this house with a HUGE poster of happy people inside the living room...which freaked me out at first, but then we realized it was the model home. Emily said she'd put a picture like that in her house...but I kind of doubt it. Anyway, we finally got to Brad's house in the dark and got to chat with him and his wife Sarah (who is totally awesome too). We were talking about some issues in the church lately, like how our pastor is blasting at the Emergant Church and reading A Generous Orthodoxy, and things like that.
Their home in Ankeny
They were SO nice, they even had beds for us to use all ready in the basement with blankets and everything. The next morning they even made breakfast for us...yummy egg bake and pancakes. We got to spend some time with their daughter Abby too (we never saw their son though because he was sleeping). Anyway, we eventually left their generous hospitality (and gave them some cookies :-) and we headed out on the road again. We tried to follow the directions, but at one point we were trying to find the interstate and it was like through a million crazy intersections and around and to the right....and we eventually asked how to get there at a gas station, and we were only like a block away (figures). We had our first gas stop....and then we headed into Missouri....oh Missouri....
