Johnny and I arrived in the sleeperbus in Shanghai in the morning...all piped up as Douggie was coming today! YAY! We spent the day getting used to the public transport then made our way to the airport and meet Doug and Mel (a workmate of Doug's). We got there by travelling on the Maglev- one of the fastest trains in the world. On ran up to 430 kms per hour- covering a distance of 30kms in 8 mins! Crazy stuff! We managed to get to arrivals in time to greet Douggie and Mel with huge hugs and alot of catching up. We got back to the hostel (via another trip on the maglev- had to!) and intorduced our new felloe travellers to the delicious tastes of street food!

Next day we tried to squeeze in as much of Shanghai into a day as we could.

Mel and Douggie!!
Douggie wasnt feeling the best (food poisoning- but from sydney!), but was a trooper and came with us and saw the TV Tower, the Bund- including a ride in the Bund Tunnel- pschycadellic and strange but good fun! We has a walk along the Bund amongst the crowds on the footpaths, then headed to some food markets for a late lunch. About this time Douggie called it quits so we headed home and chilled out. Johnny and I headed out later that night and headed to town to see the Acrobatics- both of us were so impressed- the perfomers in this show can do absolutely the most amazing things with their bodies. Awesome show and cheap too.

We all packed our bags and left the next day. Dougie and Mel got thier first taste of the Chinese Train system and realised we werent exaggerating about having to get thier early! We managed to only just get on the train before it left for Hangzhou...which leads us to our next adventures...
