Harrat al Qishb

The Harrat al-Qishb is one of several volcanic fields on the Arabian Peninsula. It has some relatively young lava flows and, which is most fascinating, a huge explosion crater called "Al Wahbah", which is about 500 m deep and 2 km in diameter.  It is located in the desert about 100 km north of the Jeddah-Riyadh highway close to the village of Hafr al-Qishb. The only comparable explosion crater I know of is the Trou au Natron in Chad...
