As though Time stood Still
June 21, 2007
Dresden is one of those very few cities that looks as though it completely froze in the midst of World War II. Traffic-stricken roads counter the ashen bridges that cross over Dresden's river, while the old pre-war architechture has been preserved and/or reconstructed to keep Dresdens old-timey feel. I swear, at times, i could still smell burning in the air, or it could have been the fire-throwing stunts held in historic square every night that emitted the scent of gas and sulfur. even though dresden looks tired, it's historic feel was so powerful that no one could get bored with this city. it is as though life has continued without a past and the people have began their lives again like WWII never happened. i'm sure, deep down inside, they still carry the burden, but they never show sadness physically, which is what makes dresden and awesome eastern german city.
