I'm in Chile for the semester finishing up my International Minor in Engineering (Latin America) by taking classes on Latin America's culture, music, history, etc. I'm also rapidly becoming more fluent in Spanish!

Sacred Valley Tour

We went with a tour organized by our hospedaje. We didn't see as many ruins as I would have liked, but I was able to get some Christmas shopping done in Pisaq at the big Sunday market. I did enjoy the stop at a little company where they grow alpaca, llamas and vicuna. The local Quechua people use the wool to weave and sell the products to the tourists. It was obviously just surviving because of tourists buying goods, but it was fun to see the animals up close. The ruins we did see (Ollantaytambo) were interesting because our guide, who was Quechua, knew a lot about them. We also stopped by Chinchero, which wasn't worth it, since the ruins are the bottom half of all the churches and buildings the Spaniards built.
