I'm in Chile for the semester finishing up my International Minor in Engineering (Latin America) by taking classes on Latin America's culture, music, history, etc. I'm also rapidly becoming more fluent in Spanish!

I Love this city!

Of all my travels, I have to say that Arequipa has the most beautiful town square that I have seen. It's beautiful during the day and breaktaking at night. Outside the center is nice too with a lot of cool looking churches and good museums. Kelly and I went to two museums. The first was the museo de la Iglesia de Santa Teresa, which was full of very gruesome catholic paintings. That wasn't really my thing, but it was interesting to see how Peru does catholocism. The second museum was much better. It was run by the Universidad Catolica of Arequipa and it was the museum that has Juanita (the frozen Incan girl). We paid about 3 dollars and had an excellent tour in english of the museum. For lunch we had Chincharron at a little restaurant. Chincharron is french fries and lots of breaded and fried seafood. It was excellent!

The facilities aren't great, but it manages to work. The internet is really slow and there are only 3 bathrooms shared among all the dorms (I never had to wait though). The breakfast isn't as good as I'm used to for the price I paid (17 soles for a dorm). The best part of the hostel is that it's not loud, and they have a lot of movies to watch, whcih comes in handy when you're dead tired, but it's only 7 pm.
