Iceland was a very unique experience. The capital of Reykjavik is a modern city with a good nightlife. Go a little further away and you get an experience unlike any other. It first struck me when we were on our final decent that this two-day stopover would be unlike any other. As you look out the window it appears that the pilot is landing on Mars rather than a northern Scandinavian island. The coast by the airport is a bright lava rock maroon, and that is all you can see. No building, no grass, nothing! Fortunately, the rest of the island was the complete opposite. Island is actually very lush and green. Geothermal activity is common all over island and a geologist dream. I, however, am not a geologist, but still loved the experience getting close (I mean really close!) to raging waterfalls, exploding geysers, and relaxing the day away in the blue lagoon spa! If you have any questions about my trip or have been I would love to hear from you. Just drop me a line. I love talking travel!
Just give it a couple minutes
