Today we started out a bit later when the weather had cooled down. First off we caught the MRT to the CKS memorial station to take some more video footage of the memorial. Then we decided to walk back on the way we found the 2/28 Peace park and walked around there for a while enjoying the sites. Next we came upon the Presidential building and from there we had a good view back towards the Taipei 101 building.
From here we walked back to the XimenDing District and did a bit of shopping before getting some lunch and having a short rest.
Next it was off to the Sun Yat Sen Memorial. We strolled around the gardens and looked at the statues next we went inside and we were just in time of the changing of the guard which was really spectacular and I can highly recommend seeing this.
Its every hour on the hour so make sure to time your visit so you don’t miss the changing of the guard.
After watching the Changing of the Guard we headed over to the Taipei 101 building.
The Taipei 101 is said to the world’s tallest building. The indoor observation deck is located on the 89th floor while the outdoor observation deck is located on the 91st floor. The admission to the indoor observation deck is NT$350 and pre-recorded tour guides are available in English which will tell you all you need to know about the surround areas and what you are seeing from the observation deck. The admission up to the outdoor observation deck is NT$100. If it’s a windy day you can hear the wind moving through the rails and it kind of makes a whistling sound.
From the outdoor observation deck you get 360 degrees view of Taipei and on a clear day you can see everything.
After spending time seeing the sites from the Taipei 101 we looked around in the shopping mall below. We decided to have dinner in the food court area. It was very cheap and reasonable prices with large size meals. The prices ranged from NT$130 to NT$200 and we bought some drinks from the near by supermarket (beer and cocktails).
After dinner we decided to check out the nearby Wu Fen Pu - wholesale clothing area. Then from there it was off to the Taiwan Beer Bar nearby so we caught a taxi from Wu Pen Fu to the Beer garden. We enjoyed the Taiwan beer and met some of the friendly locals who kept buying us beer and food. It was a great night we all had lots of fun and enjoyed meeting the local people and tasting the local beer of Taiwan.
Today was a very busy day and we got to see and do a lot.
