Today we had to say goodbye to Taipei our flight was leaving pretty early so we had to be at the airport by 10.00am I was a little nervous that we would not make it in time so I booked the taxi for 9.00am in case it came late or got lost I wanted to allow for any mishaps that may happen.
We had some breakfast showered and got ready and did our last minute packing and then heading off to the airport.
The taxi arrived on time and the driver was very friendly he kept saying Taiwan too many motorcycle too many car about 10 minutes into the trip we stopped and he pulled over saying wait wait you wait.
We think he was lost and didn’t even know the way to the airport oh my. So we set off again. More talk about too many motorcycles etc...and his driving was very scary he kept drifting into the middle of the road near a concrete centre piece I had to close my eyes. Eventually I just closed my eyes for the rest of the trip as it was too nerve wrecking my husband was like good thing you did coz you missed out on seeing how close he really came to the centre road divider.
Anyway we finally made it to the airport alive.
We checked in and decided to go and look for some shops to buy some last minute souvenirs.
So we though oh well we will check upstairs where we need to go through immigration. Good choice there were a few more things a starbucks, a restaurant and a few souvenir stores as well as tobacco and alcohol. Not much really so we decided to head through immigration. Once inside we saw lots more Duty free shops restaurants etc..but we saw a sign that said to Terminal 2 and there was also a sky train that lead there so we had plenty of time to fill we set off walking into Terminal 2 - What a surprise it was MASSIVE you name it, it was there in Terminal 2. Shops, Duty free stores, cafes, restaurants (Starbucks, Subway and burger king etc..) even a transit hotel. I recommend if you are stuck for a few hours in Taipei airport head for Terminal two you will find plenty to do to fill in time.
After this it was almost time for us to board our plane so we ate some subway and headed back to Terminal 1 to board our flight.
This time there was no upgrade to Business class so it was back to the dregs of Economy class (Cattle Class) makes you realize how good Business class is to Economy class. OH well at least it was only 2 hour 40 minute flight so it went quickly.
All in all it was a fantastic trip and I would recommend visiting Taipei if you get the chance even if it’s only a short stop over there is plenty to see and do as well as some great shopping.
