The start of the trip stopping off in Hong Kong for 2 days.
March 26, 2007
Hong Kong was fantastic. The sights you see are out of this world. It is so different ther and a real culture shock. But it's great! We arrived at night; all 13 of us and found that a huge coach was outside to take us to our hotel ( obviously we wer expecting a minibus and we got absolute luxury... good start!). Our hotel was brilliant too and wasn't too expensive- nothing really is there to be honest. It was called The Kimberley Hotel and would definately recommend it for nice staff and a very good hotel in general. Didn't get to try any authentic food because we had some fussy travellers with us but never mind. So if u don't like any chinese food then there's plenty of places to go like pizza express which is where we went.
And most of the people everywhere know perfect english so das not even a problem. On our main day there we went over to Hong Kong island and went up to the top which has an amazing view! The weather wasn't that great but it was still reli gud; see the piccy. Of course the best time to see the city is at night; it is out of this world. All of the lights is the main thing; they are everywhere and so bright, with complete neon, but is so much more dramatic if u actually go there and i am definately going back soon because it was so amazing. However only downsides are how busy it is; there are so many people around but that is also all part of the culture so you shouldn't really complain. But 1 piece of advice: don't fly with Virgin Atlantic. Was very disappointed after hearing very good reviews; the food was awful in my opinion and was not comfortable enough for a longhaul flight. The rest of our travelling was with Air New Zealand which i was thoroughly impressed with and had very pleasant flights; very comfortable, good entertainment and very nice food. Definately recommend!
