Arrival in New Zealand to Auckland
We were only in Auckland for 1 day because it was more of just a stop off point. However it was a great day and i really enjoyed exploring the city. My particular favourite was going up Sky Tower; the view is fantastic! We went up ther at night which i think is actually better because you get to see the city differently, not quite as dramatic as Hong Kong but the tower was great because you could walk all the way round to see the city from every angle. And there was also some glass windows on the floor which you could walk over and look down; very un-nerving but quite cool. We also managed to get our friend who's terrified of heights to come up with us lol. Once you're up there you can also go up to the extra tower which goes even higher which is great, and much smaller which actually made me feel more secure. But anyway the best part was the lift; it takes you up to the top in just a few seconds, without making you feel giddy, and 1 side is all glass and on the floor too which is fantastic because you can watch yourself go up or down so fast from underneath your feet.
The Sky Tower from the outside is also quite dramatic because it is so high and is nicely lit up at night as well. For a lot of the afternoon we sat at the bottom of the tower outside a cafe which was lovely and we watched people doing the bungee jump of of the tower although it didn't actually look as amazing as it was made out to be but was quite fun to watch.
Apart from that we didn't do very much because we didn't have enough time although i would say you probably only need 1 or 2 days there anyway because there isn't a great deal to see. But it's a lovely city and look out for the "ice bar"; it's meant to be really good although we couldn't go in because we had children.
