Bikes, trams and cars coming from everywhere drove me crazy... but I survived! Here is a review of 4 days in the Netherlands: 2 days in Amsterdam and 2 days in Rotterdam.

D4: Rotterdam

The rain stopped, it is under the sun that we visited the last places in the town before going back to the airport.

We first did some shopping in Beurs area.

Then we took the Spido boat to go around the harbour.

Finally we walked in the eastern part of the center, seeing the Cube houses, the Old Harbour, Saint Laurent’s Church

The Swan
Erasmus Bridge goes across the Nieuwe Maas river to link the North and the South part of Rotterdam.
Rotterdam is well known for its recent architecture, the bridge was built in 1996. It is 808m long and 139m high.

The port of Rotterdam is very famous as it is one of the busiest port of the world. I did not cross the bridge, but I had opportunities to see it from the boat while touring the port.
The only way to see the harbour of Rotterdam is to go for a cruise on the Spido boat. We could not really miss that, as it is one of the largest ports in the world...

The cruise lasts around 1h15. All along, they give a lot of information about the city (buildings, architecture…) and the harbour, with history, numbers, how it works… It is quite interesting; even if I found that at one point the view starts to be a bit too repetitive (boxes, containers…).

It is nice to have a view of the harbour with its docks and platforms, but also a nice view of the city from the canal!

Tickets are sold underneath Erasmus Bridge, next to the place where you can load. There are different tours possible.
We chose the simplest one, around the harbour only, for 9€ each.
