Tarpon Srings...Sponge Capital o…
Delicious Authentic Greek Food
You simply must stop here and have some Authentic Greek food! It is located right in the heart of Tarpon Springs...near the sponge docks. There are many Greek Restaurants along this main, touristy strip...and many are quite good; but this is my favorite.
And the selection is wonderful...for example traditional Greek dishes, like "Gyros" which are either sliced lamb or beef stuffed in pita bread, along with tomatoes, onions and a sour cream/cucumber sauce! Yumm. Also, kabobs, Souvlaki (which is marinated pork served just like the gyro. There is also a chicken Souvlaki which is verrry tasty! {My cousins got this}... Greek-style meatballs {Keftedes}.. squid, shrimp, roast leg of lamb & lamb chops, whole fish dinners....or my Favorite: Classic Greek Salad which is served over a bed of Potato salad!!
But, make sure you save room for the mannnnny delicious desserts from the attached bakery! It is marvelous to look at the display with all the tasty, sweet concoctions! There's the traditional Baklava or...Almond/Butter Cookies....Rice Pudding...or try the 'Kok" which is: vanilla cake layers filled with custard! Heavenly!
