In the Big D, and it's not Dallas....

A blog I tried to post before I left South Africa:
Sunday Ahsan and I did a tour of Johannesburg and Soweto. Basically, a driving tour. Saw various aspects of Johannesburg... Where the millionaires live, Nelson Mandela's current residence, downtown, including
As some of you know, there was an employee I was goin' to have to deal with when I got back. Yesterday, he submitted a letter of resignation via email and fax effective immediately. Solves the problem, but he wasted people's time and energy immediately before he did that. I guess he was to be called on the carpet, and face some re-trainning, so he was a weinnie and left. Good riddence. Unfortunately, I spent my last full day (Tuesday) fuming and addressing various work issues that primarily related to this joker. I had plans to relax. Instead, I'm wound up with the hamster rollin' in my head about work. There's a bit of a mess to mop up; I'm not lookin' forward to returning. A matter of fact, I'm debatting on workin' Friday (my flight in Tucson is due to arrive at 9pm Thursday; I'm sure it'll be later since I'm flyin' through Chi-Town). Traveling 36 hours and goin' to work the next day doesn't excite me, and on Saturday morning I need to take an exam for one of my self-pace classes. I think in the end the physicians' group will have to eat the overtime this jackass created.
So next week, life will suck big time. I have four chapters due for my A&P class, and I will need to find 1 or 2 new employees. I'm sure I will be expected to attend a few meetings at work, and the list I'm sure could continue. Sometimes, goin' on vacation doesn't seem worth it; especially when you're comin' back to a shit storm of a mess. There's clearly a disadvantage to being a person who carries more responsibility than the next person.
I'm gonna go lie down for the next hour before I move on out. I will leave you with the next photo installment (the rest of the photos from my camera phone). Hopefully, life will settle down in the next few weeks, and I'll get the pictures up from Ahsan's digital camera.
