TREE-MENDIOUS BACKPACKER
I was chatting with a backpacker in an open restaurant in Ranikhet , He told me the story of Mohammad Tajeran .
Mohammad Tajeran,(31) an Iranian mechanical engineering graduate , his life was an ordinary albeit successful one, running his own lucrative firm, designing heating and cooling systems for buildings.
Then, almost three years ago," he relates, during a climbing expedition, he couldn't follow the team, so just sat on a stone, looking at the moon. and his life must changed forever
Today Mohammad Tajeran, a keen cyclist, climber, and conservationist, is on a solo, round-the-world bicycle trip to promote his mission and motto: "We Need Trees."
He travel across the world, planting trees in cities and local communities en route to raising awareness of the importance of a green and arboreal environment.
For more information you may visit his site
www.weneedtrees.comI’m just pondering over the idea if we backpackers just carry some seeds of our own country and plant them in some other country or buy some sapling from the nursery of the visiting country and plant them beyond own country , culture , language …. I think each one of us can make a difference during our travel and leave the place a bit better .
My favorite quote from Gandhi reminds me, "Be the Change You Wish to See in the World."
BACKPACKING GOING GREEN !

The Queens Field
I'm writing this posting from " The Queens Field "- Ranikhet, in UTTARANCHAL .
According to legends the place won the heart of Rani Padmini, queen of Raja Sudhardev, and she chose this place as her abode. However, there is no evidence to suggest that the queen ever lived here, and the land remained in the hands of farmers for centuries. Ranikhet was a forgotten town until the British stumbled upon it, in 1869. For the English, the plains of India, which could fry like a furnace in summer, were excruciating. Come May, and they needed to make a quick getaway to the mountains. Which is why, in summertime, the capital of British India shifted from Delhi to the more salubrious climes of Simla. The heat and dust of the North is probably what motivated the English to discover Ranikhet as well, and they converted it into military cantonment.
Ranikhet small hill top town near the borders of Tibet and Nepal- is encircled by snowpeaks and surrounded by pine forests. In the foothills is Corbett National Park, original kipling country, where the tiger reigns and little hideouts provide the perfect environment of an enchanting holiday.with great views and a simple thought .......SOLIGAMY - The practice or state of being married to oneself !
