PURA VIDA

Jessore Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

The first great joy of traveling is simply the luxury of leaving all our beliefs and certainties at home, and seeing everything we thought we knew in a different light, and from a crooked angle. We travel, then, in search of both self and anonymity -- and, of course, in finding the one we apprehend the other. That is why the best trips, travels , backpacking etc. like the best love affairs, never really end.

PURA VIDA

Bangladesh has 834 people per square kilometre, according to a 2001 census of the country, population of 144 million people, making it one of the most crowded in the world.

I met one carpenter Salim Hossen Gaus from southwestern Jessore district.

This Bangladeshi man that has come up with a novel idea to get away and escape from life’s pressures. Everyday he winches himself 30m (100 feet) in a precarious homemade pulley to a small wooden platform at the top of a palm tree. He built the platform to get some peace and quiet and read his favourite books of Rabindra nath Tagore . "I spend four to five hours minimum in the tree reading and writing, listening to the birds chirping," the 25-year-old poet, writer said. "The isolation is very pleasing.

He added , " I don't get any disturbance from people and no-one can distract me from my literary works, and I feel a deep affinity with nature when I am in the tree writing poetry in the moonlight or looking at the sun rising or setting." This seems to be a great solution to escape from demanding bosses, traffic jams, TV scandals, screaming children, society’s loudness and pollution, don’t you think?

Life is wonderful; enjoy it anyway , positively !

I just got back from Bangladesh and couldn't believe the density! I had the fortunate opportunity to escape to the northern tip of the country - the Tetulia region, where i spent a week at a tea garden. It was the most relaxing place ever, and in such a crowded country! www.tetuliablog.com

Hey Iam, well said. Reminded me of a painting I have hanging in my apartment that a friend give me from Vietnam. It was done by a poet / artist who spent all his time in the mountains. Visitors hike up to see him & his abstract paintings. After they select a painting he talks to the visitor & then paint a phrase on the paper to suit. My gift artwork says, "Living in here & now, how beautiful this very moment is" I cherish it, helps find clarity in hectic modern world.
