Up 'till now!

When things don't turn up they way they were planned. Intended to stay here for 6 months... that was in March 2006! A way of life I would have never imagine! Skye's the limit and a world in its own way...

Up 'till now!

As I said, I came here for 6 months thinking that I could also find some time to go around Europe a little during that time.  I thought I would come to the UK to work which would help me earn some money to travel a bit further 'cause let's face it: it is not quite affordable to travel properly to Europe with canadian money!  So I endend up here on the 14th of March 2006, the wee village of Kyleakin.
I used to work at the hotel...
and by the way, if some of you guys are thinking to do the same as I did, there is plenty of work around here in the summer, say from may to october.  The place is beautiful and the only thing to do apart from enjoying the sceneries is going to the pubs so there is some hope of being able to save some money if you don't drink it all!!!
But anyway, as I was saying, I used to work in a hotel.
Got bored after a week.  But still stayed as it was the only work I thought I was able to do.  After a month though, something happened that simply changed all my plans.  And that was me now leaving the hotel to work on the beaches to earn enough money not to travel anymore but to build a house!  A wee lady from the city now working body and soul on the beach to dig some worms for fishing bait.  And this is the best thing I have ever done!  I work outside surrounded on one side by the clear cristal sea and on the other by these volcanic (well, ancient volcanos!) mountains.  I get paid to enjoy the scenery, could you believe this!  It's hard work but so much more rewarding than serving beers to bloody a**h****!!!
The way of life here is just so different from what I used to know.
Nothing compares to this!  No stress!!! Wild gease nesting in the village park.  Stags right in the backgarden.  Sea everywhere you put your eyes. Gorgeous sunsets and sunrises above and behind the beautifully shaped mountains of the Highlands.
And every step you take, every second is different from the previous one!  When you come to Skye, you can't say you've seen Skye: you've seen it for the time you were there but it is so changeable that you might come another time and you would feel like it is a totally different place! Does that make sense to anyone?!?! :)
I've been here for more than a year and I still feel like I've not seen it all!  Don't quite know what to suggest the most as I believe that the whole island and its surrounding area is THE place to see.
If you ever happen to stop by Kyleakin, just shout and I'll have plenty more to tell!
Hope this will convinced you to plan the Isle of Skye in your future trips 'cause if you also travel to enjoy Nature, you can't miss that one!
