Venice - city of canals....
July 12, 2007
Venice, suituated in Northern Italy is the capital of the Veneto region and is a series of islands surrounded by a saltwater lagoon. Venice is joined to the mainland by a long causeway which includes a road and traintracks.
Venice is most famous for its many canals that worm around the city to the Grand canal which seperates the 2 sides of the city. Within the city, like many other Itallian cities there are many churches with huge Domed roofs, Piazzas and ancient beautiful buildings. But the canals really make the city unique and the large and small bridges and beautiful. It's a lovely city to wander around.
Venice is surrounded by many islands including Murano which is famous for it's glass blowing and Burano, famous for it's lacework.
