Not my favourite place in Italy.......
Naples was our first stop on our trip and I have to say, it was good a good first impression!
The area we stayed in (near the train station) was very dirty and dodgy to say the least! There was litter flying all over the street and overflowing trashcans everywhere, I did not feel safe there and street vendors were constantly hassling me to buy a fake designer bag or belt! We saw a fight and an arrest and were charged for extra items on our dinner bill. Our hotel (Hotel D'Anna) was the worst I have ever stayed in and we mooved to the Starhotel around the corner for the second night! I would NOT recommend staying in this particular area of the city!
There are other parts of the city which are quite lovely and clean and I felt safe in, around the main shopping area was ok.
While in Naples we did an open top bus tour up the coast which was quite spectacular as the views of the Bay of Naples and the volcano are very vast and on a good day you can see for miles. The main reason for going to Naples was of course Pompeii, which we visited also.
City Sightseeing Open top bus tour of Naples. I do these tours in every city I go to as it's cheap and a great way to get familiar with the city before I try to make my way around on foot!
