Den Gamle Bybro. The old town bridge.
Last week I had friends visiting me from Sweden. I guided them around. It was rather nice to be tourist in my own hometown.
Welcom to Trondheim, City of the Viking King and the Historical Capital of Norway.
Trondheim is a meeting place. Old and new combine, the crown and the churc converge, warriors mingle with peddlers, and grassroths link up with high tecnology. More than a thousand years have passed since the Viking king Olav Tryggvason sailed up Trondheim fjord in his longship and decided that this was where he would found his city, which he called Nidaros(997 AD). From his statue he surveys the city now, over a thousand years later.
Today, Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway, and a major centre for high tecnology, reseach and education. One big village - or a small city. Where past meet present. The city center is compact, you have all in walking distance.
I`ll be pleased if you add comments to my blog
