On the doouble decker bus
So my friend and I get to London
early in the morning ready to explore the city and find out why London is so famous. When we got to the airport, we wanted to exchange dollars and euros into pounds. The thought the exchange rate was ridiculous! We ended exchanging only 75 dollars and we got 30 pounds. When we got to the Tube in Heathrow
, I almost got a heart attack when I saw the price for ONE ride into London. Why in the world would a city charge 4 pounds for one ride into London City? 4 pounds is 8 USD. That is ridiculous!!!!! I felt London was over priced but I think I have to think about how much people in London get paid.
It might be a lot of money for me for one ride but for people who live in London the price is just right. So we paid with our credit card a one day ticket which was 6 pounds. We took the tube into London, and got off at picadilly Circus and swith to another line and got off at Russel Square. We headed to our hostel, the infamousGenerator. Yes yes, the prison that can host up to 800 people a day and it's fully booked all the time. We get to our hostel and there's teenegaers and "young adults" everywhere. We checked in and we went to the basement to room 008. We left our stuff in our room and headed out to explore London. We visited, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham fountain, Abbey road and hopped onto the double decker bus into Soho. We finished the day with a nice meal at burger king. The next day, woke up and got ready to do the "free" walking tour.
We met up with the guy who was suppose to take us to Monument where everyone else was suppose to gather up and then split into groups. Well this dumbass guy was walking fast and we couldn't keep up with him. So my friend and I and 4 argentinian gils lost him and we were searching for him and didn't find him. So we went to Monument and waited for him. He shows up 30 minutes later and all he says was sorry. So we just gave him the evil eye all the time. They shouldn't really call it a "free" tour if they are going to ask for tips. You don't really just want to walk away if the person is asking for tips and you know they did a good job, so we gave our guide 5 pounds. After the tour was over we went to picadilly circus and took pics of London, bought a couple of souvenirs and went back to the Hostel for our Free drink.
I met two Mexican guys in the bar at the generator and my friend and I just chilled with them. We exchanged e-mails and they want me to visit them in Mexico someday which most likely I will because I go to Mexico all the time. The rest of the trip it was visiting monuments and touristic sites. Overall i had a great time. We got to Heathrow on July 1st and security was horrible!!! We were waiting almost 2 hours for us to go thru security. This was due to the attemp to blow up a bar or nightclub by some terrorist at Picadilly Circus. So security was tough! We hopped on the plane and I was READY to go to Paris. I just wanted to leave London for ever and never go back. So we departed and I was so happy London was history on my backpacking trip.
