Bordeaux - wine country!
How exciting....back in France and straight into wine country!!! After checking out the town (with the longest pedestrianised street in Europe), we booked ourselves into a Chateau and Winery Tour for the next day! But there was another treat to come before that...
FROG'S LEGS!!!! We couldn't leave France without trying the second of the snail/frog delicassy duo. So, we found the only restaurant in Bordeaux and treated ourselves to a 3 course meal...with frog's legs straight up!! The sauce was really a lot of the flavour but I have to say that I really quite enjoyed it! For everybody wondering out there, its texture is rather like a cross between fish and chicken!
The next day we had the winery tour and visited 3 chateaux in the Médoc region. The first one was Chateau Baudan, a little family run business...we learnt how they made it and of course got to taste some! We then visited Chateau Margaux to view their property and then onto Chateau Giscours. This was a much larger property, and again we got another tour before having some yummy tastings! We also got to keep one of their glasses, which was very cool.
Although we didnt have long in Bordeaux, we still had a great time...another highlight was the hotel having BBC television - Little Britain and Keeping Up Appearances were well appreciated!!
