God on the Rainbow, seen from my ship when we are leaving the harbor in Stockholm

God on the Rainbow. Is located at Nacka beach at the entrance to Stockholm. It is 24 meters high and it is a quite impressive fountain, especially when the water showers out from it. The ship, that I'm working at, passes this monument every time that we arrive at or leave from Stockholm. It shows God who is putting stars into the sky, assisted by an angel.

The statue is created by Carl Milles in 1945 as a peace monument and to celebrate the founding of the United Nations. Marshall M. Fredericks, American sculptor and assistent to C. Milles for many years, made the statue in full scale from Carl Milles' original in bronze at Millesgården. It was erected at Nacka Strand (Nacka beach) in 1995.

Originally the sculpture was meant to stand at the space in front of the UN building in New York.
