So it's not actually Malibu... Just a bit west of it, actually.

CA-23 and its curvy way. It was starting to get close to sunset.
After we finished up at the Reagan Library, we stopped at a burger joint... It's supposedly world famous, but I uhh.. well the name escapes me right now.  Guess it wasn't so famous after all.  In fact, my grandfather made a comment about how he'd never heard of it to another guy in line and the guy agreed and said it was only famous around there.  My grandmother started talking to the guy about our trip and what not, and our food was up.

After the guy finished his meal, he came up to us and said "Listen, I wouldn't recommend going back to Anaheim just yet.  It's rush hour and you really don't want to drive through Los Angeles during rush hour.

.. You should stick around town for a while."  We asked him what there was to do and he said there's a new mall... yeah, well we didn't really want to do that.  He then recommended that we head out to the coast and drive down the Pacific Coast Highway.  That perked me up... I was DYING to see the Pacific Coast.  I've heard nothing but wonderous stories about it and the highway that follows alongside it.

He told us to jump on the 101 and follow it down to CA-23.  He said 23 is a pretty and scenic drive and we would enjoy it.  Oh we did.  We got off onto 23 and it was a 5-lane road at first...  eventually we come to a light and follow through it and the road just.. disappears.  It turns into a 2-lane road with zero shoulder and starts making all these tight turns and goes up into the hills.

Man we had no idea what we were in for.  That was honestly the coolest drive I've ever taken.  All sorts of switch backs and up and downs and everything... way cool.  I'm totally jealous that my grandfather is the one that got to drive it... and I would love to drive that road in a nice sporty car, not a minivan!

We finally come out over a ridge and we can see the ocean.  What a beautiful view.  We stopped along the highway at a small state beach to walk down to the beach and check it out.  I think it was Robert H Meyer Memorial State Beach.  You can look it up on a map.  I shot some photos on the beach and man... there were some monstrous waves out there.  They were coming in sets of 6 or so...  and when they crashed, you could feel it on the sand.  We have nothing like that at Jax Beach.  Ever.
