Playing on the beach

This morning, Jared and I hurried through breakfast and ran outside so I could shoot photos and Jared was playing along the shoreline. The sand there is really neat... it's not silica powder sand like back in Jax. It's more of fine pebbles. I've included a photo to show a detail of it. The pebbles are no more than a millimeter across, each.
We found all sorts of sea life in the tide pools along the rocks: star fish, anenomes, and urchins. Jared was jumping around the rocks as I shot photos.
We stuck our feet in the water to feel just how cold the water was and, let me tell you, when that water washes over your feet, the cold makes them ache with a quickness. It's COLD! Nowhere near the 75 or 80 degrees I'm used to.
I really wish I could have sat in that spot all day and just enjoyed the scenery... I also wish we had more time to explore the Pacific Coast, because I know I could spend months or years photographing the various outcroppings and beaches it has to offer. It's just so neat to see. I really need to get up toward Oregon as well.
We're on our way to San Francisco next. I'm not ready to leave this place yet; not ready to leave the coast and the sounds and smells that accompany it. I know, now, that wherever I end up in life, there has to be a beach nearby. I guess that's why I'm one of few people my age that's just so content to stay in Jacksonville. It has a beach... and I don't even visit it that much. But it's nice to know it's there. Fresh seafood is always a plus, though ;)
