Boldt Castle at sunset. George Boldt bought an island for his wife, Louise, and built this castle upon it. Shortly before completion, George sent a telegram simply stating "Louise has died. Stop all construction." and never returned.
So we jump back across the border.  The American Customs agent was a lot friendlier than the Canadian one.  I felt so welcome back into my own country... and we didn't even have passports!  He asked us whether or not we did, and I said I had my birth certificate, but Katie had left her passport back home.. he's like "Alright.. have a great day!" and let us through.

There's a huge bike rally in Alexandria Bay this weekend.  We go down to the Capt Thomson's Hotel down at the end of their main drag and somehow we got lucky and got the last room in the hotel.

I tried to get a few sunset shots of Boldt Castle, but it was hard to find a good view of it without trees being in the way.
Isn't the water gorgeous? That bridge is one of 5 on this particular road which connects the USA to Canada, through the Thousand Islands

We woke up fairly early to run down to the local market.  Since we hadn't been planning to stay over night we had no toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, clean clothes...  so we ended up needing a few supplies.  We had already checked out of the hotel, so we ended up brushing our teeth in the bathroom of the market.  That felt like REAL traveling.

We took the Uncle Sam's 2 & 1/4 hour boat tour through the Thousand Islands.  It's the same one I did last year, so no new photos.  Strangely enough, on the same tour as us, was a woman wearing a Jaguars jacket and hat... I said Go Jags! and asked her if she was from Jacksonville... sure enough they were.  Actually, they were from Green Cove Springs, but close enough.  It's so strange to be 1500 miles from home and run into someone else from your town.

I'll throw a few photos from last year on just for reference and amazement.  The only new one is of Boldt Castle at night.

I think I need to buy an island up here.  Apparently someone bought one, completely with huge house, for $400,000 a few years back.  Hopefully I can afford that one day.  What's better than owning your own island???
