YES there is a free walking tour in Berlin. It meets in front of the Dunkin' Donut Shop at the ZOO Station or at the Brandenburg Gate. You will need a ticket for the "S" and "U" bahn (I suggest you buy the "Berlin-Potsdam Welcome Card" 48/72hr 16/22 Euro.) if you meet at the Zoo.
They also have paid tours as well. The tour runs about four hrs with a stop for lunch.
If you are happy with the tour feel free to tip your guide.

I think everybody should take advantage of saving money and buy the "Berlin- Potsdam Welcome Card" 48/72hr 16/22 Euro... This card is good on all public transport, as well as museum and some entertainment reductions.
Just flash it every place you have to pay for anything. you'll be surprised at where it'll work.

Tiroler Ulpenstadl (spelling my be wrong, see picture)
This place is very authentic and really tries to give off a Bavarian ambiance. From the woodwork to the staffs clothing. It has a friendly feel and a large choice of foods to eat.
My mom asked for authentic. She ended up with a whole roast, potato, large salad, beer, two types of cooked vegetables. After all that they offered dessert.
