Flew to Frankfurt from Seattle to visit my sister and her family. They lived in Kitzingen, near Wurzburg. Spent Thanksgiving on US Army base. Rented a car and drove south through Bavaria to Prien am Chiemsee. Drove to Salzburg and took the back roads through the Wolfgangsee. Visited Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Christmas town). Then, drove west all the way to Paris!

Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Rothenburg is a medieval walled city where Christmas happens year-round! Viewed from the hills above, the town is shaped in the form of a skeleton key. Lots of Zimmer frei (rooms to let) so you can spend the night if you haven't quite marked off everything on your Christmas list while shopping.
