Paris! The City of Lights. Stayed in the Quartier Latin, climbed Montmartre's Basilique du Sacre Coeur, saw the Moulin Rouge, Eiffel Tour, Arc de Triomphe, and drove back to Germany.
After driving all day from Germany, through northeastern France, we finally arrive in Paris
late at night. It truely is the City of Light! We immediately head for a familiar beacon to all travellers when arriving in Paris--The Eiffel Tour! It's brilliant at night, and reassuring. We need to find a hotel desperately, so we navigate the maze of streets over to the Quartier Latin. We stop at the Hotel St. Jacques, on Rue des Ecoles near Le Jardin du Luxembourg, the Pantheon, and directly across the street from the Hotel California. Why are the pillows sewn into the bedsheets? After amusing ourselves laughing at the micro-bathroom in our room, we remember that we're starving. We quietly exit the hotel past the snoring desk clerk who is sprawled out on the lobby sofa in the dark, and creep out into the dark streets of Paris searching for something to eat. We are drawn to an Italian bistro with a small late-night dinner crowd inside, and order some pasta and wine. Satisfied, we drift back to the hotel and open the windows onto a tiny balcony. We light up cigarettes, breath in the night air, and watch the fog roll in through the damp street below.
Paris Hotels & Accommodations review
Nice Belle Epoque style hotel. Great location in the heart of the Latin Quarter.
