Late arrival to Rincon
Apparently when you go to Puerto Rico you are supposed to book a hotel and transportation in advance. Being the procastinator that I am, my sister and I arrived in Aguadilla thinking we would travel by bus to Rincon for the night. In Puerto Rico, there is no cross-island bus service and no "budget" accomodation. We ended up renting a car and driving to Rincon where we then could NOT find a place to stay (It was the 4th of July, might I add). I went into one shop looking for what I thought to be a hostel and got a funny response: "Tell Tony at the liquor store that Ricky told me to ask you if there are rooms above the laundrymat". Ummm...I've stayed in some weird places, but laundrymats are where I draw the line. Thanks Tony, but I'd rather sleep in the car.
We finally found a place with vacancy, the Desecheo Guesthouse, which ended up having the best view in town: a lighthouse and Deseceho Island in the distance. We went down to the beach later that night for some festivities - I will leave the rest for the imagination. The next day on our way out of Rincon we stopped at this awesome organic restaurant called "Natural High" for delicious smoothies made with coconut water (to soothe the hangovers, of course) -- anyways, if you are in Rincon, I highly recommend this restaurant! They had lots of good organic foods like Thai green curry.P.S. Whoever marked Rincon on the map in the south of Puerto Rico near Ponce, you are WAY OFF! It is on the west coast near Aguadilla!

The name "Natural High" enticed me to see what is was all about. Inside you find friendly American expats running the show. I tried the Sunrise Smoothie which is made with coco water, banana, mango, and strawberry...and either I was really thirtsy or it might have been the best smoothie ever! I also had the Thai green curry which was exceptional! When on the road this made for such a nice change from disgusting fast food places!
