A hot journey to paradise

We had booked ourselves on an open tour bus this morning to the beach town of Mui Ne. Another early start (although even earlier for Carol and Nicola who had to go and pick up their ao dai from the tailors - they were whizzed through Saigon rush hour), we got the coach at 7.30am and after much faffing we set off about 8.30am and had a long, hot bus ride.
We arrived in Mui Ne at about 1pm and got a taxi to Coco Beach resort. When we entered it looked fantastic, bamboo thatched bungalows dotted around a landscape garden, with hammocks hanging underneath the coconut trees, a pool and, of course, the beach. We were seated in the garden and brought four cold cocktails. After a short wait sipping our drinks we were taken to our villa.
We couldn't wait to get on the beach, so a quick change and we were sat drinking beer at the beachfront snack bar. Then onto four sunbeds to catch the late afternoon sun. We soon entered the sea, which was very warm (unlike those chilly Australian waters!) with quite big waves. We hired a body board and had some fun in the surf.
After pre dinner sambucas we ate in the beachside restaurant, then went for a few beers in the little pub in the resort. At 10.45pm we were told it was closing soon - we weren't sure whether this was standard practice or whether the barman just didn't want to watch any more of our poor pool playing!
