Winnipeg wonderings!!
Well we are now on day 3 in the City of Winnipeg. Yesterday we spent our time walking around. It is a nice city - has a good feel to it - but there really isn't much to do!! We have however found a really cool internet cafe that serves good coffee - could easily spend the whole day here. After our wanderings we went back to the hostel and made tea. Then just sat for the rest of the evening reading and chatting with our new global friends. Got chatting with a lad from Leicestershire who was funny and kept us entertained with stories of his travels. Emma did some reading about a place called Prince Rupert and it sounds good so instead of going straight to Vancouver from the Rockies we are now going there, then to Vancouver!
Today we have visited Winnipeg Art Gallery and seen many Inuit carvings, this gallery houses the biggest collection of Inuit art in the world.
It was a very good collection, really simple sculptures but quite spiritual. We wandered around the city a little more to look at the buildings, but the architecture isn't that impressive. We did like the Legislative building - which is quite grand, like a mini Buckingham Palace.
We went back to our groovy internet cafe in Osbourne Village for a couple of hours and then decided to treat ourselves to tea out at one of the many restaurants in this area.
Tomorrow we are going to get back on the train to the Rocky Mountains. It should be an interesting journey. Both really looking forward to it. Getting our winter gear ready as we have heard that they had the first snow fall last week - 25cm in one day - brrrrrrrrr!
