The West Coast

We found out last night that the next ferry to Vancouver Island is on Tuesday so we booked into this hostel until then, giving us a few days in Prince Rupert.
After breakfast we headed to part of the town called Cow Bay - a little fishing town which reminds us a little of Scottish fishing towns - just not as rugged. As it is Sunday it is very quiet - most things are closed so we just wandered along the front and watched the fishing boats. As there wasn't much else to do we decided to go to the the pub. After a few pints we went for food to a local cafe called 'Smiles' which apparently does great seafood. It does. Emma reckoned her fish and chips were as good as anywhere.

Pioneer Hostel is located just two minutes away from Cow Bay - a very scenic bay in the town/city of Prince Rupert. Its also very close to everything else useful. The hostel owners are friendly and helpful. You will arrive in Prince Rupert either by train or ferry and the hostel will come and collect you - very useful as it is a bit of a trek into town. The hostel has quite a number of rooms -it is inexpensive to have a room for two. They are all clean and nice rooms. The dorm is nice too - not too cramped as some places can be. It has a nice social area downstairs in which to read or to chat with fellow travellers - in fact the first rule of staying at the hostel is that you meet as many other travellers as possible. Definitely worth staying here. Its a good place to chill out if you have been on the move for a while.
