Too hot

Having brunch in the Quarterdeck

We had decided to treat ourselves to brunch this morning, leaving the hostel at 10.30am and walking down to the marina.  As soon as we stepped out of our room we realised how hot it was today, it was like walking into an oven.  By the time we reached the Quarterdeck cafe we were dripping!  We enjoyed our breakfast despite the heat.  The restaurant ins built on deck so you can see the water underneath you and look out to the harbour.  After breakfast we went and had a paddle in the sea to cool off and sat on the beach for a while.  Dark clouds and a strong warm wind developed so we decided to go back to the hostel, it was still to hot and humid to do much so we relaxed, reading the weekend papers and watching the tennis.

Watching the news later it became apparent that the weather has been hot everywhere today - it was 40 degrees in Sydney resulting in everyone heading for the beaches.  The lifeguards have had to make scores of rescues around the country, but unfortunately couldn't save one young boy on Bondi Beach.  It makes you realise just what a good job they do year round and they are valued as much as the other emergency services over here.

Another frugal tea tonight of omlette and toast - its hard being on a budget - please send money!
