Southbank and the Botanical Gardens
We were actually up very early this morning - out of the hostel by 9am in order to chat with a few people on messenger - I hope you all appreciate us getting up early and staying up late just to keep in touch!
Later we got on the free tram down to Flinders Street and over to Southbank on the Yarra River. The area has been developed and it has a number of sculptures and loads of information about Australia's history of immigration and where everybody has come from. Not suprising that the highest number come from the UK.
We continued along the river to the Botanical Gardens which were very impressive, we only saw a small fraction of them as they are so big - also about the only green part left in Melbourne as they are allowed to water this area. We called for a coffee in the cafe before wandering back, getting the free tram once again - our knowledge of Melbourne is getting very good, soon we will be able to record the commentry on these trams!
For dinner we went to a Thai restaurant called Lemongrass - it was the best Thai meal either of us has ever had in our entire lives, it was amazing. If food is as good as this in Thailand we will be staying there forever!
