Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower

This morning we got on the monorail to Bukit Nanas and walked over to the Petronas Twin Towers.  This time we went to the other side to view them.  At the back is a very nice landscaped area, with water features, sculptures and many benches to sit and take in the surroundings.  There is also a swimming pool with waterfalls that was full of kids.  We took some more photos and then sat in a shady spot for a while.

When the towers were built they were the tallest in the world, and continued to be so for many years after that, measuring 452m high, joined at the 41st and 42nd floors by a bridge.  Each tower was built by a different team, one by the Japanese and one by the Koreans; the Japanese topped out first, but the Koreans claimed the glory for the construction of the bridge.  Next stop was the Menara KL Tower, at 421m high, the 4th tallest in the world and also very impressive.

X_Drive says:
According to Infoplease the tallest tower is the CN Tower in Toronto at 553 meters or 1815 feet.
