Last day in the outback

We had to return the car this morning and did so with no problems - we hope, despite having driven on unsealed roads when told not to. We had managed to clock up 400km in 2 days - not eally a difficult task when in Broken Hill as it is 100's of km to anywhere of interest.
We booked our train ticket to leave tomorrow - on the weekly countrylink train. We would have liked to stay longer here as we have found being in the outback a wonderful experience but without a car there is no where to go, public transport doesn't take you outside the town. We spent the day by the pool at the hostel as it was once again a dry hot day.
Later that day we went to the pub with Tomas, Sabina and a German guy from the hostel. We went to the Palace Hotel, made famous as it featured in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. We sat on the long balcony drinking and chatting until at 9.30pm, when the barmaid came to tell us she was shutting the pub so we had to leave. We went back to the hostel and continued drinking by the pool. We were joined by an Australian who came and chatted to us about Australian politics- he was quite interesting but did go on a bit. He thought most of what went on was a conspiracy by the CIA, and was probably right!
