Last day on the coast
Our last day in Narooma so we thought we would spend it on the beach. Chris and Wendy dropped us off and pointed us in the direction of where they thought we might see some stingrays. We wandered over to where a family was cleaning its fish and there in the water was a stingray (aka Steve Irwin killer). It was massive, much bigger than either of us imagined it would be. It was gliding along under the surface while several pelicans bobbed along on top. Some of the kids were actually feeding the stingray with bits of fish - it was amazing to watch.
We made our way to the netted beach and found a spot. We had a few hours here, during which we tried to go in the sea but it was far too cold. Emma only just managed to get her ankles wet and Diane went in above her knees, shivered and came out again - it's not like the mediterranean here! We slowly walked back seeing a few more stingrays on the way - it really would be scary swimming alongside one of these.
