Last day in New Zealand

This morning we packed up our stuff and just about fitted everything into the rucksacks. Early tomorrow morning we fly to Sydney, so tonight we are going to sleep at the airport. Our bags went into storage for the day and we headed into the city again, had breakfast at the Cathedral again and then went and sat in the square in the sun for a while. In the square are loads of buskers and street entertainers, we had already seen a saxophonist and a wizard when Bruce started his show cracking whips and juggling. It was a great show, mainly for his humour rather than his tricks though - well worth the few dollars we threw in his hat at the end. We had a wander along the river and sat in the sun for a while watching the punters glide by.
We headed back to the Irish Pub we had been to yesterday and had a couple of beers and some food before going back to the hostel to pick up our stuff and head off to the airport. We are both sorry to be leaving New Zealand. We have enjoyed it as much, if not more than the last time we came. This time we tried to stay off the tourist track a bit more, and so probably saw a bit more of the real NZ. The scenery, people, and wildlife take some beating.
It wasn't the best night's sleep to say the least. We sat watching the arrivals come in until after midnight (which was quite entertaining, almost brought a tear to our eye watching all the emotional family reunions! It was like watching an episode of Surprise Surprise, we kept expecting Cilla to pop out from somewhere and burst into song) After that we just sat and waited for the departure lounge to open at 4am. We were both very tired at this point.
