Into the mountains

Well there's only so much heat two girls can take. After more than two months of sweat and humidity, we decided it was time for a change, and headed into the mountains to partake of the cooler airs!
An early start to travel by bus to the Cameron Highlands, the largest hillstation in Malaysia, and apparently where the British used to retreat to, back in colonial days. The area is home to rainforest and tea plantations, log fires and cream teas. Fantastic!
We arrived early afternoon and booked into the 'Cameronian Inn,' a picturesque guesthouse and quite homely. We could tell the difference in temperature straight away, and reflecting this, our room had carpet, blankets on the beds, and no fans or air-con. For the first time in over a month, we had a hot shower (bliss!) before heading out for dinner. Tonight we both ordered a banana-leaf curry, a real dining experience. The waiters placed a large banana leaf in front of each of us. They then placed on or around the leaf: piles of rice, chutney, vegetables, daahl, yoghurt, spicy noodles, poppadoms, and curries. It was a true feast.
You may have noticed, but we are really enjoying our food at the moment!
