High Tea at the Carrington!
This morning we checked out of "No 14" and checked into "The Mountain Lodge'" our home for the next four nights. It is a comfortable place, but strange. It is owned by a Chinese family, and the decor in the dining room resembles a Chinese restaurant, tables with lacy table cloths, vases of plastic flowers and tinsel decorating the ceiling. In our room there is also an interesting picture on the wall, that of a bare chested woman, who looks as though she should be on the cover of a racy Mills and Boon!
In the afternoon we met Tomas and Sabina at 'The Carrington,' Katoomba's posh hotel. High tea was a novel experience for Tomas, Sabina and a German girl we had met at the hostel (not that it is something we do on a regular basis either). Teapots and tea leaves, and scones which they had never seen before.
Later we said goodbye to Tomas and Sabina as they were leaving for Sydney tomorrow, it was quite sad really as we have really enjoyed their company over the last few weeks.
