Today we had a trip out to Green Island which is just on the edge of the GBR. Booked in at the pier, and then boarded our boat at 10am. After a quick 45 mins,we arrived on the island and went to collect our snorkelling gear. We went snorkelling while Pam and Dave went on a glass-bottomed boat to see the fish. Emma struggled with her mask, eventually giving up and reverting to goggles. We got out and sat in the shade for a bit, it was absolutely baking. As Diane is already sunburnt, she didn't want to develop the lobster look any further.
After a very good buffet lunch, Dave went on a snorkelling tour and we went to a different part of the island to do a bit more snorkelling. This time we saw quite a bit of coral, and a lot more fish. Sharks are always at the back of your mind, even though its quite safe to snorkel here. We all met up and swapped news back at the pool, and then got back on our boat at about 4pm.
We were going to treat Pam and Dave to tea out tonight, but Dave had to take to his bed during the evening due to a touch of sunstroke. This was from about 40 minutes worth of snorkelling this afternoon. Its very easy to underestimate the sun here, its really brutal.
