Goodbyes and cockroaches

We had a very early start this morning, the alarm went off at 4.45am. Pam and Dave were going home today so we got up to wave them off. They have really enjoyed themselves and thrown themselves into all sorts of activities - they would make very good world travellers - they have worn us out, but we have really enjoyed their company.
When they had left we returned to our apartment to have an encounter with one of the worst creatures to scurry on this planet - the ugly cockroach. It was discovered crawling along the floor next to Diane's bed. At one point we thought it had crawled in the bed before we spotted it in the bathroom. Emma the brave jumped into action with a flip flop. Within a few seconds the creature was no more - cockroach squash on the bathroom floor. The door was shut to deal with it when we got up after a couple more hours sleep.
Later Diane got up to checkon the body and things had taken a turn for the worse. Not only did we have a corpse in the bathroom but we also had hundreds of carnivorous ants eating it - not a good sight at 8.30 in the morning. This time Diane went into attck mode, scooping up body and ants and subjecting them to death by drowning.
By the time we had dealt with all this death and destruction we had just a short time to pack up our stuff and check out. We headed into Bondi to post some unwanted stuff home - mainly the tent.
Later on we went and checked into our new accomodation in Glebe, in the city, where we will stay for the next five nights before moving on. We had a walk over to Darling Harbour to watch the cricket. There is only one thing worse than watching England get beaten by Australia and that is watching it happen in Australia. The Aussies have absolutely loved it seeing us beat to a pulp.
